Steel Framed Systems
Overview
Steel Framed Systems (SFS) are versatile systems that utilize cold roll formed galvanized steel sections, assembled on site to form a stud structure. They can be used for internal walls or as a backing for a variety of external cladding, including brickwork.
These systems are an economical way to provide early weather protection to a building, as the frames are easy to put together rapidly. The dry construction enables windows and internal fit-out to commence without delay. A variety of materials can fixed to the steel framework to create different thermal and acoustic profiles.
Steel framed systems are a good example of where I-W are able to add real value to a project by combining different styles of wall construction into a single package.
Featured Project - British Library Conservation Centre
The Metsec Steel Framed System was specified at the British Library Conservation Centre, London, mainly for the ability to create an extremely air tight environment for the archives. This was achieved by using galvanized sheeting, a waterproof membrane and mastic joints.
In this scenario attention to detail is key, and I-W have an excellent track record in this respect. Working to a well established quality procedure backed up by experienced on site management ensured the work was completed to the high standards expected by the client.
